Comm stands for Commitments and is the generic name for any commitment or agreement with third parties. This product is aimed at organisations that have relationships with third parties that result in many formal commitments which have to be managed. Commitments might be for example:
Licence-in, licence-out, cross-licence
Memorandum of Understanding
etc etc
Commitments might be related to existing IP such as Patents/Trade Marks, or to other property such as know-how.
If the IP department is using another Xensis product to store IP data such as xen-IP then xen-Comm seamlessly integrates to allow cross reference of commitment and IP data. Should xen-Comm be used as a standalone product then references to IP data outside of the system can be included.
xen-Comm is typically used in organisations where either:
If commitments are managed within the IP department, then other Xensis products such as xen-IP have combined IP and commitment record management capability. However if the IP department have an existing IP management system and wishes to retain it, there is no reason why xen-Comm cannot be implemented standalone just to manage commitments.
A significant feature of the system is that the actual commitment documents (eg Letter of Intent) can be stored in electronic form within the database.
There are no limits to the number of records that can be stored in xen-Comm.
