NOTE: This functionality has been incorporated in xen-IP 3.9 and so the process below is not required once you have upgraded to xen-IP 3.9.
During 2006 Computer Patent Annuities (CPA) replaced the Invoice and Credit files (invoice.dat and credit.dat) with a new combined file called the Composite Event File (CEF) which contains details for both invoices and credits.
When you receive a CEF you will need to process it through the CPA File Utilities which can be downloaded from the Downloads page on the Xensis web site. The download is a Xensis patch which should be saved onto a PC with the Xensis software installed. To run the patch, go to Start - Programs - Xensis - xen-Patch and then locate and select the patch file when prompted. Note that a number of existing patches will already exist and you may wish to store this new CPA patch in the same place (you may need to involve your IT Support if you don't have the necessary access rights).
When you run the CPA File Utilities there are three simple steps to perform to convert the CEF into the "old" format files...
1. Select the CPA Composite Event File by pressing Browse
2. For each file type listed, select it and press Extract to create the appropriate files (invoice.dat and/or credit.dat)
3. Press Close to exit and then process these files in xen-IP in the usual manner
