xen-IP Range

Hardware Specification

The system requires no specialist infrastructure, and in many cases could reside on existing server hardware where there is spare capacity.  For installations with a reasonable user base then a dedicated server may be considered. The software can run in various modes...

• On a standalone PC (for a single user)
• On peer-to-peer networks (maximum of 5 users)
• On client-server networks (both LAN and WAN)

All Xensis products will be tested on new Windows operating systems as soon as they are available.

The following are the minimum hardware requirements to run the software.

Client Hardware Specification

Windows versions supported are - Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and later.

Minimum specification for client (without SQL Server Express)...

• 300 MHz processor or faster
• 512 MB RAM
• 200 MB spare disk space
• Monitor 800x600 minimum (1024x768 recommended)

Minimum specification for client (with SQL Server Express)...

• 1.6 GHz processor or faster
• 768 MB RAM
• 1 GB spare disk space
• Monitor 800x600 minimum (1024x768 recommended)

Dedicated Server Hardware Specification

This will depend on the number of users and the volume of data (including the document registry).  The following are the recommended specifications to run the software, however for complex installations Xensis should be consulted.

Assuming a single dedicated Windows server hosting 10 concurrent users and a portfolio size of 5k applications, plus 20k documents.  Minimum specification for Windows Server...

• 1.6 GHz processor or faster
• 768 MB RAM
• 1 X 9 GB SCSI disk space (for Operating System, SQL Server, Data and Registry storage)
• Backup device with 100 MB capacity for compressed backups

Assuming a single dedicated Windows server hosting 30 concurrent users and a portfolio size of 15k applications, plus 50k documents.  Minimum specification for Windows Server...

• 2.2 GHz processor or faster
• 1 GB RAM
• 2 X 9 GB SCSI disk space (1 for Operating System, SQL Server) (1 for Data and Registry storage)
• Backup device with 100 MB capacity for compressed backups

Existing Hardware Specification 

If you intend to use the free SQL Server Express database (suitable for up to 5 users, supplied free from Microsoft) on an existing server, desktop PC, or on a peer-to-peer network, you will need...

• 1.6 GHz processor or faster
• 768 MB RAM
• 1 GB spare disk space
• 100 MB backup capacity for compressed backups

If you already have SQL Server installed on an existing server, you will need...

• 1 GB spare disk space
• 100 MB backup capacity for compressed backups

xen-Web

To use xen-Web you will need a Web Server supporting the software described in Software Requirements.

To run xen-SE or xen-SE Plus, you will need Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and later, plus the minimum hardware requirements...
